Currently, if build number is not fully resolved, there is no way to see in the UI what is its unresolved form.

I'd suggest to display the "raw" build number on the build results page (maybe as a separate note int he results only when it is not fully resolved).
And as a tooltip at least on Build configuration overview and history pages.
