It would be nice to be able to hold the shift key and use the arrows to select more than one file or type to open in visual studio.

This is a typical scenario for most dev's I think:
(I want to modify the HappyCustomer class and of course I'll modify the unit test first) ctrl + N HC (HappyCustomer and HappyCustomerTest and several other files open)

You can hit small button at the top of the Go To dialog and have all files displayed in Find Results window. Then you can navigate them one by one, or open all of them.
