In an aspx file I was changing some html comments (<! >) to server side comments (<% %>. As soon as I changed the comment start the file became littered with numerous error marks. Correct as syntax is then temporarily not OK. However, the error marks stay after I change the comment end.

In some case I had to reload the file to get rid of the error marks, in other cases it took over a minute or so before the file was reparsed and the erorr marks disappeared.
