Note that TabReorder does not (and will not) work with IDEA 8.

Any chance to see tab reorder included natively in IDEA 8?

Most likely it will be included in a 8.x update.

This is fixed in 9712 and in a nice way I would say.
So you can mark this as fixed.

I would like to thank you for fixing this bug.
This, together with the ability to have the tabs on the right side again, just made IntelliJ a lot more pleasurable to work with.

Thanks again.

I must be blind today but where do you turn it on and how is it fixed?

In 9712, drag & drop works only with "Editor tabs in single row" option. Reopening until D&D works with all tab display modes.

Thanks,

I'm wondering that 35 people have voted for this feature request although there is already a very good solution provided by the open source plugin TabReorder. So I guess some of them did not read the thread and do not know about the plugin. -> Therefore this comment.

They might have voted at the time when TabReorder did not support latest IDEA and looked dead. The situation now is quite good, the plugin works well.

I don't see TabReorder in available plugins on IDEA version IU-95.390 either, and without it drag-drop still only works with tabs in a single row. What's the status of each of those?

That's surprising. I can see the plugin under available plugins. I'm using IC-95.413, but the plugin also worked in former versions like 95.260.

It would be nice if a native solution would also allow D&D between groups.

This is not yet completely fixed. Reordeing tabs within a single tab group still has some issues.
